You will oversee key customer touchpoints including arrivals, departures, accommodation access, enquiries and reception operations across campus and city locations. Alongside this, you'll lead the planning and delivery of our successful summer business, including conferences, events, group bookings and summer schools. Working closely with colleagues across the University and external clients, you'll ensure every event is delivered to the highest standard while achieving ambitious commercial and financial objectives.

You will bring:

  • Significant experience managing sales, events, hospitality, accommodation or conference operations.
  • A proven track record of leading, motivating and developing successful teams.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll be trusted to take charge, make decisions and lead from the front. You'll supervise a team of Security Officers, respond to incidents and emergencies, support people during challenging situations, and work alongside the emergency services when required.

No two shifts are the same. From managing critical incidents and welfare concerns to overseeing patrols, CCTV, access control and campus security, you'll play a key role in creating a safe, supportive and welcoming University community.

Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ you

You'll be someone who:

  • Leads confidently, motivates others and works well as part of a team.
  • Remains calm under pressure, uses sound judgement and handles challenging situations professionally.
  • Communicates effectively, demonstrates integrity and empathy, and has strong problem-solving and report-writing skills.

A full UK driving licence is essential. You’ll need an SIA Door Supervisor licence and First Aid at Work qualification. If you do not have these, we will provide these as part of your training. Comprehensive training includes SIA, First Aid, Mental Health First Aid and CCTV, where required.

Further Information

The basic working week is 38.5 hours, including 2 hours contractual overtime, worked on a 24/7 rotating shift pattern covering weekdays, weekends and Bank Holidays, with a 15% rotational shift allowance and 10% market supplement payable.

The role covers the main University campus and off-site buildings and is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Collect and empty waste and recycling bins across campus.
  • Transport and handle a range of waste streams safely and responsibly.
  • Operate waste collection vehicles, compactors and recycling equipment.
  • Support the day-to-day running of the Recycling Centre.
  • Help improve recycling rates and support the University’s sustainability goals.

Working hours: Typically 8am–4pm, Monday to Friday, with some weekend working as required to meet operational needs.

The University Hospitality Department provides catering to students, staff and external customers throughout the academic year and during the summer months. There are numerous outlets run by the Hospitality Department offering a range of dining and beverage options.

The West Hospitality team has two vacancies for Food & Beverage Assistants within our catering operation. In this role, you will help ensure the smooth day‑to‑day running of the catering operation and deliver a consistently high standard of customer service. Key duties include taking customer orders, serving food and drink, operating tills, stocking food stations, and assisting with cleaning and clearing tables and catering areas

The role includes early morning, evening and weekend working on a 5 out of 7 days per week contract (36.5 hours per week).  The weekly shift pattern consists of straight shifts only, no split shifts.

Training and uniforms are provided, and there are opportunities for development and progression within the department.
