The Knowledge Exchange Framework outcomes are published annually, reporting on the performance of Higher Education Providers in areas of external engagement such as contract research, consultancy, public engagement, and commercialisation.

These activities are divided into seven perspectives, with each perspective scored against a quintile for the comparator group or “clusterâ€ and compared to the cluster average. The latest ‘polar cap chart’ summarising the Ä¢¹½´«Ã½â€™s position is shown in Figure 1 with a link to the dashboard published by Research England also available.

The Ä¢¹½´«Ã½â€™s KEF3 results show a performance which is above the cluster average for 3 of the seven perspectives with performance against the remaining four perspectives being at the cluster average. The University’s performance in ‘Public and Community Engagement’ has seen a jump by two quintiles while ‘Continuing professional development and graduate start-ups’ has fallen by one quintile.

The results reflect the Ä¢¹½´«Ã½â€™s ongoing commitment to Knowledge Exchange and delivery of meaningful collaborations and initiatives with external partners.

Professor Jonathan Knight, Vice-President of Enterprise, commented:

The latest KEF3 results demonstrate the Ä¢¹½´«Ã½â€™s continuing commitment to delivering meaningful collaborations that support the application of research, generate outputs which benefit wider society and enrich the University’s research culture.

Dr Steven Boakes, Head of Knowledge Exchange, also commented:

KEF3 reaffirms the Ä¢¹½´«Ã½â€™s active engagement with external organisations through a diverse range of KE mechanisms. Engagement through KE continues to deliver collaborations and outputs which benefit partners and communities beyond.

KEF Cluster X institutions: Ä¢¹½´«Ã½, Brunel, LSE, Loughborough, Royal Hollaway & Bedford New College, Durham, Hull, Kent, Surrey, York, Birbeck, Keele, Lancaster, UEA, Essex, Leicester, Reading, Sussex. Exeter and School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) were reallocated from Cluster X to Clusters ‘V’ and ‘J’ respectively for KEF3.
